"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." - John 1:1
The psalmist also declares, "Thy word is true from the beginning…" (Psa. 119:160). The Bible begins its declaration by saying: "In the beginning God..." (Gen. 1:1). Though many ministries major in the field of apologetics, (defending the faith, creationism, etc.), the real issue is not trying to convince man’s intellect. Yes, historically the Word of God is accurate; but even if the 500-foot boat that sets upon Mt. Ararat (over 20,000 feet above sea level) was disassembled, and reassembled in Central Park, man would still debate the biblical account. The Real Issue is a Heart Issue Jesus says, in John 18:37b, "...every one that is of the truth heareth my voice." The truth is for people who desire the truth in their heart. Jesus, who declared Himself the "Living Word," in John 6:63, "The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life." Reading the Holy Bible is not like reading a novel or a magazine. The Word is living; the Word is Spirit. The Word has the power to convict, to convince, to cleanse, and to impart transforming faith. The preacher seems to preface everything he says with: "The Bible says…." Yet, if you can believe the first four words of the Bible: "In the beginning God…" then you can believe the whole book! Heaven is real, hell is real, salvation is real and damnation is real! * References: Gen. 8:4, John 18:37, and John 6:63 [See post on Salvation]
